The EU Advisory Group Awarded With A Medal of Honour

On 2 May 2012, Mr Samvel Nikoyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, awarded Mr Eduardo Lorenzo Ochoa, the EU Advisory Group Long Term Policy Advisor for Strengthening Democratic Structures, and 3 members of the National Assembly with the Medal of Honour. This is the first time the citizen of a EU Member State has received such an honourable decoration from the National Assembly. The Medal was conferred in recognition of Mr Ochoa’s effective advisory mission in facilitating cooperation between the National Assembly and European structures.

During the awards ceremony, Mr Nikoyan delivered a brief overview of key objectives and milestones that had been reached by the National Assembly in cooperation with the EU Advisory Group. He underlined how dedicated the EU Advisor had been in enhancing the role of the National Assembly.

In particular, President Nikoyan highlighted how valuable the EU Advisory Group’s support to the National Assembly Delegation to the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly had been and expressed his gratitude for the essential role the Advisor had played in this process. Finally, the President thanked Mr Ochoa for his outstanding professionalism and impartial assistance and encouraged him to continue in his efforts to deliver useful policy advice to the National Assembly.
