On these days, the brave and patriotic young people of Lori ruined the notorious festival of Azerbaijani films. The brave youths attacked Vanadzor office of Helsinki Association and the human rights activists, broke their windows. They made patriotic speeches and threatened that they would even resort to illegal measures.
On the same day, security guards of Teghut mine beat up violently several villagers and broke the leg of one of them only because they disliked them. The villagers blocked the road to the mine demanding a meeting with those beasts. The police and Lori governor intervened preventing a “self-judgment”.
What has happened to the brave hearts of Lori? Their compatriots were beaten up and humiliated. Why don’t they support their fellow people who are poisoned and beaten up today and, who known, tomorrow they may be resettled from their village? Why aren’t they supporting them? Or maybe it is not dangerous to protest against Azerbaijani films, it is even encouraged, while in a real case their “patriotism” disappears.
Or, when their fellow youths “commit suicides” in the army and Vanadzor office of Helsinki Association does everything it can to prevent such cases these youths never protested against the plight in the army. Does “patriotism” end there?
Cdertainly, it ends. In general, Armenian patriotism is something special. It is slavish and abstract. They love their homeland so much that it ends in front of their eyes.
