Free Access To Karabakh For Lefort

    • Politics - Thursday, 31 May 2012, 17:09

EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philip Lefort is in Armenia. He has already met with the foreign minister and other high ranking officials.

A month ago, the European Commission adopted a resolution demanding free access to Karabakh for its representatives. The former representative Peter Semneby has never visited Karabakh. Lefort may open the way from Europe to Karabakh.

Europe is interested in integration of the whole region, which requires transparent borders. The EU policy on the Karabakh issue promotes transparent borders. But Azerbaijan disagrees. Lefort’s ongoing visit may show how open the European Union is in conducting its policy.
