Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Germany

On March 16 the foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan met with his German counterpart Guido Westerwelle who is in Armenia on an official visit.

Greeting his counterpart visiting Armenia in the twentieth year of establishment of diplomatic relations with Germany, he noted successful establishment of friendly relations between the two countries, develop and expand trade and economic relations, implement development and investment programs, parliamentary cooperation, cultural and scientific ties.

Guido Westerwelle thanked for warm welcome and underlined development of cooperation of two countries and premises for further expansion.

The interlocutors discussed the agenda of bilateral issues, reforms, development of economic cooperation. They noted progress towards EU-Armenia cooperation.

Minister Nalbandyan presented the recent developments towards the peace settlement of the Karabakh issue. The foreign ministers exchanged ideas on security and stability in the South Caucasus. The agenda of negotiations included the efforts towards establishment of peace in Afghanistan and contribution of Germany and Armenia to this process.

The German foreign minister presented the EU standpoint on Iran’s nuclear program and underlined that solutions and agreement will be reached through negotiations with joint efforts of the international community and Iran, the foreign ministry informed.
