Heritage Will Not Participate

    • Interview - Wednesday, 18 April 2012, 10:27

Heritage proposed that the agreement on establishment of election headquarters be signed by the leaders of member parties. The rest of the parties actually refused, hence the latter is not going to attend the activities of the headquarters. For further clarifications, Lragir.am held an interview with the Heritage Vice-Chair Ruben Hakobyan.

Mr. Hakobyan, are you going to take part in the forthcoming session of the joint headquarters?

No, at the first session, before signing the statement on the creation of the joint headquarters, we put forward the precondition that the next document which was to deal with the functions, control mechanism of the headquarters was signed by the first figures of the parties. None of the participants refused our proposal and in the result the famous statement was signed. Later on, the ANC and PAP rejected our proposal and we decided not to attend the activities of the headquarters. I don’t know whether it will operate or not.

Why do you insist that the document be signed by the party leaders?

For the simple reason that it will become more convincing and trustworthy for the society and the most important thing is that none of the parties will be able to dwell on free and fair elections and at the same time commit election fraud. Today all of the three coalition forces distribute election bribes and different in-kind assistance in an effort to buy votes. Prosperous Armenia needs to prove its commitment to free and fair elections. He didn’t so-sign the letter by the three forces to the Chief of Police inquiring about the real number of voters in Armenia. This is the main resource for fraud.

ANC states on different occasions that Heritage is a member of the joint headquarters.

I do not want to sound rue but if some people’s mouth becomes sweet by saying honey, let them enjoy it.
