ANC member, economist Vahagn Khachatryan says prices in Armenia are set in Serzh Sargsyan’s office. According to him, centralization is so high in Armenia and the oligarchic thinking is so extensive that no economic logic will help. He says prices in Armenia have no relation to prices in the world.
He is afraid the government will not be able to fulfill its program of boosting tax collection by 101 billion, and the State Revenue Committee will have to chase the businessmen to collect that money. According to Vahagn Khachatryan, the biggest issue of our country is that no rules are enforced.
He says that it is necessary to boost the economy through export and the Armenian economy needs investments. The only solution is to create a good climate for investments. It surprises him that in such a small country as Armenia they speak about creating free economic zones. He is also surprised at specialists studying free economic zones of China since one Chinese economic zone is equal to entire Armenia. According to him, the talks on the free trade zones are fairy tales.
Dwelling on the growth of dollar, the economist recalls that according to budget estimates and the mid-term expenditure program, the U.S. dollar exchange rate had to be 378.96, while it is 410-413. According to him, rates will grow on the next few days. At the same time, Khachatryan noted that the businessmen are told not to boost prices until the new government is formed.
According to the chairman of the Armenian Union of Employees Gagik Makaryan, the rate of the dollar will continue to grow until 2014, reaching AMD 500. This is determined by the economic situation of the country.
