The government meeting on April 26 declared the launch of the planning stage of the 250 million dollar program of construction of North-South. The government approved the results of the open international tender for the reconstruction and improvement of three sections of the road worth 250 million dollars in accordance with the investment program of the North-South road corridor funded jointly by the Republic of Armenia and Asian Development Bank. The winner is the Spanish company Corsan Corviam Construccion S.A.
“It’s highly important that we launch this large-scale construction because we are finishing the reconstruction of the disaster area worth 250 million U.S. dollars and it is clear that we need an equally large-scale project to develop building,” stated Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
According to him, this is only part of the bigger project with total value of 1.5 billion dollars. An interagency commission has been set up which acts transparently, involves experts from all the ministries, participated in the negotiations with the Asian Bank, Tigran Sargsyan said.
The prime minister said the road will be covered with concrete, will comply with international standards to ensure fast driving.
