Karen Karapetyan Appointed As Prime Minister

On September 13 Serzh Sargsyan affirmed Karen Karapetyan’s nomination for prime minister of Armenia, the Office of the President informed.

Karen Karapetyan was born on 14 August 1963.

He has graduated from YSU, Department of Applied Mathematics. He is a Doctor of Economics.

He has held top managerial positions. In 1996-1998 he was the deputy CEO, then in 1998-2001 the CEO of Armenergo. In 2001 he became the minister of energy of Armenia. In 2001-2010 he was the chairman and CEO of ARG.

In 2010-2011 he was the mayor of Yerevan. In 2011-2016 he was the first deputy chairman of Gazprombank Group. Since 2013 he has been a board member of Areximbank-Gazprombank Group.
