Ministry of Urban Development Has Not Counted Homeless People

The Ministry of Urban Development has not counted the number of homeless people in Armenia, says Yevgenia Atayan, Head of Housing Provision, Housing Stock Management and Communal Policy Department of the Ministry of Urban Development to Lragir.am.

Recall Head of the Shirak Center NGO of Gyumri Vahan Tumasyan said there are 3500 families who don’t have the status of homeless people, who leave in extremely bad conditions and receive no help by state programs.

Yevgenia Atayan says she can’t say the date when the state will solve this issue, but this problem will surely be solved. She added there are many other families with the similar situation in other regions.

Yevgenia Atayan noted that the state is going to fulfill its obligations by 2013 and will provide apartments to all the homeless people in the disaster zone.
