    • Country - Thursday, 26 July 2012, 12:49

Pastinfo: According to the official data, 8 orphanages are operating in Armenia which host 940 children, 360 in specialized orphanages. Trying to find out the number of children registered for adoption since 2008 from the National Statistical Service, we found nothing.

Either no statistics has been carried out since 2008, which is hardly possible, or the numbers are so expressive that they prefer keeping them in secret or this issue is not so concerning.

According to the official data, in 2007 the number of children registered for adoption was 219, in 2008 – 156.

In Yerevan, the number of children registered for adoption was 112 in 2007 and 83 in 208.

In 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 the number of all children registered for adoption was 742 including 347 in Yerevan. The number of foreign adopters was 722.

Note these statistics reflect exceptionally the central registration of children.
