Officials Occupied People’s Houses

On these days, the ministry of justice informed that the activities of notary Alvard Melkonyan have been suspended temporarily. She is involved in a case of certifying several sales contract for the same premises. As a result, the same apartment was sold to several people but was bought by government officials leaving ordinary citizens at a loss.

The residents of the building at 72-80 Aram Street do not care for the decision of the ministry of justice. They demand that those guilty and the officials who occupied the apartments were held responsible.

One of the sufferers is Sonik Maghakyan whose request resulted in the suspension of Alvard Melkonyan’s activities said that the ministry could resolve this issue very easily but does not have courage.

It is not clear for the citizens how the notary could certify several contracts for the same apartment and get away with it.

Sonik Maghaqyan says she can present evidence that the minister of transport and communication Gagik Beglaryan owns three apartments in the building at 72-80 Aram Street. It is not ruled out that the minister has other apartments as well. Earlier there was information on apartments in the same building owned by the head of the president’s control service Hovhannes Hovsepyan.

The deceived residents handed a letter to the assistant of the president in the presence of the president who promised to respond but according to Sonik Maghaqyan the letter “has vanished”. In order to learn what happened to the letter, the residents sent another letter to the head of the president’s staff Vigen Sargsyan but got no response.

About 2 months ago the residents held a sit-in in front of the RPA office and Galust Sahakyan promised to follow up the issue. But the residents say everyone is strangely silent.
