Today, the fifth annual DigiTech business forum opened in Yerevan which this time hosts 59 IT companies. This year’s number of participants in comparison to the last year increased by 48% including 21 companies from other countries.
During the two-day forum, the participants present their works and propose innovative technological solutions. At the opening of the events, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said the number of people employed in the IT companies is equal to the number of employees of the mining sphere. But the difference is that the IT salaries are higher. Despite progress in this sphere, there are gaps too, one of which is the shortage of specialists which does not allow foreign companies cooperate with Armenia. Tigran Sargsyan said the government disagrees with the idea of creating an IT ministry.
“We will discuss this idea with our partners. In general, we don’t need to think about establishing ministries but of optimization of the existing ones to avoid repetition of functions,” said the minister.
