The press service of the National Security Service reports that criminal proceedings have been launched for money laundering based on Article 190 Para 3.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

The criminal proceeding was launched relating to the sale of 100% shares of Huntsman Building Production JSC owned by the U.S.-based Polymer Materials and Huntsman International corporations for USD 2 million without relevant documentation which could result in avoidance of payments of taxes, as well as the misuse of the sum of the transaction left in Armenia by the American party exceptionally for charity purposes. In particular, 1,135,000 dollars was transferred to the bank accounts of Civilitas’ founder Vartan Oskanian and member of the board of trustees Tigran Karapetyan.

Besides, Civilitas Foundation, breaking its own statutes and rules, has submitted no financial report in 2011, including on the charity money allotted by Polymer Materials and Huntsman International corporations.

Checks by the tax service and interrogations and other actions will follow, NSS reports.
